A Nice Long Weekend!

Good Morning Everyone!

    I hope you all enjoyed your nice long weekend and got to spend your Monday doing something fun! In honor of Martian Luther King Jr. Day we have been learning about what made him such an important man. The students also got to think of an idea about what their dream would be to help the country. We created a class book "I Have a Dream!". The students were really touched by the important things that Martian Luther King Jr. did for the people in our country!

Welcome back on the first Monday we have had in a while. Today is an exciting Monday, because first grade has begun our weekly math switch. As a grade we will split into three classes to go over more direct instruction for the students needs. We will focus our lessons around the topics we are covering in our regular math curriculum. The students love this time and really enjoy learning from another teacher.

Arctic Animals

Brrrrrr...... It is cold outside and in classroom 6!!! We have begun our study of arctic animals. To kick off our unit we gathered our schema (what we already know) about arctic animals. The student have some good background knowledge about polar bears and penguins. We also came up with some questions about things we hope to find out during our study! The students are all very excited and eager to learn and explore about arctic animals and their habitats.

Start asking your student at home what they are learning about the animals that live in the arctic!!
