Happy March to all!!!! March will be getting off to a busy start here in Room 6. The students have begun a new unit of study in Science, Ocean Life. We gathered our prior knowledge and dove right into learning about the amazing creatures of the ocean. Check out our Science window, it is coming together!  Soon the students will be researching an ocean animal of their choice!

We will be taking our field trip to the Shedd Aquarium tomorrow! Everyone is very excited and we can't wait to see all these amazing creatures!

This type of practice is enjoyable for the students and really helps to build a more fluent reader.

The Arctic Freeze Has Ended......well in room 6 anyways!!!

We have finished our science unit on arctic animals and their habitats. The students loved reading, learning, and writing about these amazing creatures. From penguins, to walruses, to arctic hares, and snowy owls, we learned it all! To conclude our studies each student choose their favorite animal. They got to read about the animals in nonfiction text and identified important and interesting facts. With these facts each student was able to write a research report about their animal. This was a major writing project and they LOVED it!!! Add to the excitement each student was able to get crafty and created their animals using construction paper and markers. The reports and animals turned out FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!

What a great way to end a wonderful unit. Next up in science and social studies --> dental health month and the Winter Olympics!

A Nice Long Weekend!

Good Morning Everyone!

    I hope you all enjoyed your nice long weekend and got to spend your Monday doing something fun! In honor of Martian Luther King Jr. Day we have been learning about what made him such an important man. The students also got to think of an idea about what their dream would be to help the country. We created a class book "I Have a Dream!". The students were really touched by the important things that Martian Luther King Jr. did for the people in our country!
